Training Tips 1. Don't forget to take your helmet off during a triathlon when transitioning from the bike to the run 2. Incorporate "Brick" workouts into your training regimen: Immediately following your bike workout, run for 15 minutes to simulate race day. 3. Wake up early and train in the morning. You will burn more calories throughout the day and will find the gyms and trails all to yourself. |

Training Tips 1. Too much caffeine can hurt more than it can help. Although very effective, it can also have negative effects such as nasuea and dehydration. 2. It’s important to have a plan going into a race but it’s also important to let go of the plan during a race. It’s amazing how many different ways your plan can fall apart in a matter of seconds; roll with it. 3. Be competitive and proud of it. What’s the point of going out there and not giving it everything you’ve got? |

Training Tips 1. When cycling, always keep the knees covered when it is below 60 degrees. With the constant wind at those temperatures, your knees will thank you! 2. When you have completed a long run and you're feeling a hot spot here or there, quickly ice the area! Putting the “fire” out immediately can help prevent an injury developing over time. 3. You will race like you train, so train the way you want to race! |

Training Tips 1. Establish and stick to your own schedule. Do not fall prey to what others are doing-- if they have different race schedules, you may not be properly tapering and recovering for your events. 2. Get enough rest. There is no such thing as ‘overtraining’, just ‘under-resting.’ 3. Avoid the ‘dead’ zone. Make your hard days HARD, and your easy days EASY. There is no such thing as going ‘too slow’ on an easy day. |

Training Tips 1. Make sure you have a good bike fit! A surprising amount of triathlete's "running injuries" can be attributed to poor bike fit 2. Get a mini-blender and make your own smoothies with frozen fruit, whey protein, OJ and flax. Tasty and so easy! 3. Train with people who are faster than you. No better motivation to work hard than a fear of getting dropped on the bike or lapped on the swim. |
